November ’25 Newsletter

đŸŒ» Perfectly Imperfect—and Grateful Anyway...

Hello, Readers!

Welcome to November! It came so fast, didn’t it? Hard to believe the year is already winding down. And how are you coping with the time change? That was actually the topic I had planned to chat about this month. In fact, I even had a whole other newsletter prepared. But something happened a few days ago that I wanted to share instead.

It’s a long story, but it starts like this

I finally had time to work on a project I’d really been looking forward to—adding tabs to my brand new journaling Bible. I’ve never been what anyone would call a “crafty girl,” but I thought, how hard could it be? Stick on a few tabs, make it look nice. Easy enough, right?

Well, that was the plan.

Somewhere between Genesis and Deuteronomy, things went downhill. The tabs went on crooked, and of course, I couldn’t have that. So I tried to straighten them. That’s when disaster struck. Turns out, Bible pages are very, very thin! I tore one. Then another.

Frustrated, I decided the project was doomed. I started pulling off the tabs—but that only made things worse. More rips. More damage. A half hour later, my beautiful new Bible looked like it had survived the Great Tribulation.

Why such a big mess for such a simple task? At this point, I should probably mention that I have a visual condition called diplopia — also known as double vision — which means I see two images of the same object at the same time. I’ve had this condition since 2021, and have somewhat learned to navigate the world with it. But common tasks sometimes take me longer than they would for someone with normal vision.

Anyway, I burst into tears, annoyed with my clumsy hands and my limited vision. Others make it look so easy… Why can’t I do anything right? I sat there thinking maybe the best thing to do was throw the whole thing away and order a new one.

And then it hit me.

I was furious with myself for not being perfect. But the whole point of that book—the very one I’d just mangled—was that I’m not. Only one person ever was, and He’s the One whose words I was trying to honor by “prettying things up.”

So instead of tossing it, I grabbed the Scotch tape and did my best to repair the damage. It’s not perfect—far from it—but it’s readable. And now, every time I open that Bible and see those wrinkled, taped-up pages, I’m reminded that Jesus never asked for perfect hands, perfect projects, or perfect people.

Just an open heart.

Now that I’ve shared my little design disaster, let’s talk about something that did turn out right! I’ve got some new stories to share, and thankfully, no Scotch tape was involved.

Right now, I’ve just finished the first-round copy edit for Her Reluctant Amish Heart. Elam and Anika’s journey has been an emotional one—full of redemption, hope, and the healing power of love—and I can’t wait to share it with you when it releases in late July 2026. I’ll have the official cover reveal to share a bit later, but trust me, it’s going to be a special story for anyone who’s followed the Humble Blessings books.

If you’ve been wondering when you’ll get a little taste of what’s coming next, you won’t have to wait long. In December’s newsletter, I’ll be sharing an exclusive sneak peek from Her Reluctant Amish Heart! This will be your first chance to get a glimpse into the story before anyone else. Meanwhile, the book has gone up for pre-order, so go ahead and reserve your copy today. I’ll also be sharing a sneek peek of the cover soon, so stay tuned!

Speaking of new stories, I’m excited to announce that the proposal for Ben and Trisha’s book has been accepted! Tentatively titled An Amish Home To Keep, this story will wrap up the Humble Blessings series, which has been close to my heart from the very beginning. I can’t wait to bring all those threads together—old friends, familiar faces, and a few new surprises along the way.

Writing about the town of Humble, Wisconsin has been such a gift, and it’s been wonderful hearing how much readers have connected with the people who call it home.

Ben and Trisha’s story is full of second chances, faith, and the kind of love that grows from shared history. I think it’s the perfect way to close out the series.

Now for the fun things… September’s newsletter winner is Sherrill Dennison . Congratulations!
